Learn the skill of chain making with a deep dive into curb chain.
It’s best to do this workshop if you’ve been to a workshop before as there is some slightly detailed soldering however your host will support you with anything you find difficult. This is one of the few workshops where you make something but we can’t guarantee you will finish. Chain is a long process, it’s incredibly interesting and Sam the tutor is a expert at making curb chains however finishing a full ring or bracelet depends on how quickly you take to soldering and it’s different for everybody.
Usually people do finish but we can’t guarantee.
In the workshop you will start by having a detailed introduction to chain and the best way to make a large amount of links. You will learn how to safely cut links and then loop them together into a chain. The main part of the workshop is soldering the links together and then you will learn how to apply pressure and manually twist into a recognisable curb shape. The final step is polishing you chain.
This workshop is great for learning the process and trying something new. You work in copper which is included or you can work in silver and then pay on weight. To work in gold please email us head of time for a quote.
