We built Silver & Steel to give jewellers a place to work and learn together . We are passionate about bringing jewellers and metalsmiths together in a vibrant, dynamic studio built for the Bristol jewellery making community. We even have people travel in from Dorset, Devon, Somerset and South Wales to use the space.
We welcome all levels and abilities. It’s your studio space to learn and work in. If you have any questions about the tools and equipment please ask!
You can bring tools with you, or you can use ours. If you’re a resident we’re also happy to change some of the equipment to suit your needs.
We have 5 Jewellers benches in our custom built studio space available to rent on long term contracts.
Perfect for all levels of jewellery making and silversmithing. You have access to the communal tools and equipment as well as other in-house opportunities and benefits. Not to mention being part of a daily community of jewellers.

Like hot-desking for jewellers. Come and use our equipment, work with like minded creatives, process your scrap and have a space to create.
Accessing the Studio costs £36 for a half day session, or £42 if your session includes casting or laser welding activities.
Laser welding alone is £18 for an hour so save up your welding jobs and work through them using our DADO welder.
Sessions run from 10am-1pm or 2pm-5pm. Availability is usually weekdays but weekends can be arranged in advance.

We are the only bespoke jewellery studio you can book for private hire so if you want to run your own classes get in touch and we can make it happen.
Venue Hire built for jewellers.
Prices start at £60 for 3 hour workshops or £120 for a full 6 hour day. You must have Public Liability Insurance in place.

We have a dedicated soldering and casting area for sand casting. Other casting options are available in our back yard including spaghetti casting and water casting. For cuttle fish casting please bring your own cuttlefish.
Due to Casting needing extra resources we ask for a small additional fee of £5 per session to cover your disposables.
We have a rolling mill with flat, square and D wire options.
We also have draw plates of various sizes with Durston draw grips and a winch DIY draw bench set up where you can draw round wire up to 2m long.
We have a Paragon Kiln perfect for enamelling, metal clay, lustre and filigree.
Access our laser welder on a pay as you go basis. Basic induction is included but if you require training please let us know as this is something we can organise.
