Jewellery repairs, restoration, & resizing in Bristol

Made to be worn

At Silver & Steel we believe jewellery should be worn and enjoyed. Whether you have a sentimental ring with a loose stone, or a broken chain that’s sitting in the back of a drawer somewhere; we can help give it a new lease of life.

Our repairs are handled by our resident Lorna. She is incredibly experienced and after spending years working in a fine jewellery repair shop she also runs her own jewellery brand. In Silver & Steel Lorna uses state of the art equipment so you can be sure that your pieces are in good hands.

The great thing about using us for your special repairs is that you can come in and drop them off into our small jewellery studio in person, without worrying about sending an heirloom item off in the post or handing it over to a faceless brand.

If we do need to outsource any elements like plating we will let you know but we only work with tried and tested trade companies that we trust.

How it works

Jewellery Repairs are best quoted for in person so if you’re able to bring the items in we will be able to be more accurate. However if it’s too tricky to drop them down feel free to send over some detailed images from different angles and a description of the repair.

We have a minimum charge of £80 and take up to 14 days to quote. Once the repair is agreed our lead time is 4 weeks and any changes we will let you know.

The service is designed for fine jewellery so if the piece isn’t worth the £80 why not come to one of our recycle and repair workshops and try it yourself?

From our customers

“My husband and I made our wedding rings with Beth and it was so much fun! It was clear that Beth had put lots of thought into making the workshop really special. Neither of us had any jewellery making experience, but Beth patiently took us through every step and we both love the rings which we made with her. We would highly recommend the wedding ring making workshop and we look forward to giving other workshops at Silver & Steel a go!”
Annie & Alistair
“My partner and I did the silver ring making workshop at Silver and Steel and absolutely loved it. The studio is lovely and well-equipped, Rosy was a kind, patient and knowledgeable teacher, and the finished rings we came away with are so special. We got to do the majority of the work ourselves unlike other workshops I’ve been to which made it even more rewarding!”
Amy Focic
“Selling my work through Silver & Steel has been a fantastic experience. As an independent designer in the early stages of my career it has provided a great opportunity to connect with a wider range of customers. They have the chance to see my work in a real-life gallery setting and also to try on, which is key in the jewellery selling process. This has made a significant difference to my sales this year! Beth is a great champion for local designers, and I’m excited to continue my collaboration with the studio.”
Lindsay McDonagh
“My daughter has been physically ill since May and on top of that she has had exceptionally poor mental health. She has been struggling so much that she hasn’t been able to do anything at all. Yesterday was the first activity she has done since May and you made the whole experience and atmosphere so relaxed, supportive, accommodating and welcoming. She felt safe enough to talk to you, ask questions and get involved in doing something new. I can’t tell you how amazing it was for me to see and gave me such hope that things can & will get better for her. Honestly, you & Rebecca have been the FIRST non-family members she has felt able to talk to in 6 months and it is a huge, huge credit to you and the environment you have created. Thank you doesn’t seem enough… words don’t do it justice!! I am certain that you will see her/ us again!”

“Something I struggled with previously in Bristol was a lack of a community around jewellery. With the gallery exhibitions, talks, CPD workshops and the resident community I have found a space to learn, grow and have super geeky conversations about all things contemporary jewellery and life”
Rebecca Enderby
“What Beth has designed and put in place at Silver & Steel Studios is a vibrant, exciting and nurturing workshop and gallery which is accessible to all. Beth is a powerhouse whose enthusiasm and energy is contagious and truly inspirational.”
Holly Forester Jewellery
“Flexible space, available when I am. Friendly fellow silversmiths who share their experience and crafting knowledge. A gallery for completed work. A fantastic owner with a brilliant vision for all aspects of jewellery, jewellery making and spreading the word of jewellery!”
John Kelly
“We all left with something totally unique and beautiful that we were really pleased with, and had a great time doing it. Thanks so much, we would definitely come again”
Kath M
“I learned a tremendous amount. It was a small, informal group, with a very nice atmosphere which was supportive and creative. The shop itself is an inspiration”
Chris
“The whole experience was relaxed, creative, and so rewarding — and we left with beautiful rings that we made ourselves! I’ve already recommended Silver and Steel to everyone I know”
Lucy E
“Everyone at the venue is obviously concerned with making the place accessible and inclusive to as many people as possible. Silver & Steel has been set-up with the best possible access in mind.”
